Congratulations to Marlayah M - Nominee for Excellence in Equity Student Recognition Award!
Well known within the Canterbury community as a vocalist, an athlete, and as one of the Co-Presidents of the Black Students’ Association, Marlayah M. is also well-respected as a community builder who excels at all she does. She is remarkably committed to mentoring future leaders and helping to create a community in which all students feel welcomed and seen. As part of LINK Crew, she helps to create a welcoming environment for newcomers to Canterbury and supports them throughout their first year of high school. In addition, she co-produced a compelling and meaningful Black History Month celebration that engaged and inspired all members of the school community. As part of this assembly and as a gift to the school, Marlayah engineered and lent her voice to the school’s newest rendition of O Canada, a sophisticated, multi-track, bilingual version of the national anthem. Marlayah is truly a role model in her commitment to equity and inclusion!
